Perplexing Move

I had been building a failover machine in the hope of replacing cyrus imap with a Scalix solution and am having all sorts of issues installing scalix with the old mail store.

I have preserved the permissions from the old mail store .. restored with same UID GID on new box, followed all the HOTO's without success this far. So I have done a complete re-check of my work.
uninstall scalix
manually delete all folders
re tar old mail store including permissions
copied the file & checked md5sums
untar the folders
re-install scalix
this time I get :-

postgresql-devel-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1
postgresql-server-7.4.16-1.RHEL4.1

I have done a couple of these, had minor issues and with less chance of success than this it's Centos 4.3 patched to 4.4 to a new 4.4 ServerCd install with updates ?
I am clueless & pulling my hair out, any help greatly appreciated, the old IMAP server died and my mate flies to the US on business day after tomorrow

From the error log, it looks like Postgres isn't running. Can you check with

Code: Select all

service postgresql status

If it comes back as not running, start it up with

Code: Select all

service postgresql start

and try the installation again.

Thanks for the replies ...
Unfortunately I ran out of time, uninstalled scalix rm -f'd the mailstore & did a fresh install, reload the mail from outlook client pst file backups, which was as horrible as I had thought but eventually got the job done.
The only issue was the fresh install didn't play well with sendmail, but sorted quickly.

I did manage on one of the many re-installs, get it up to & past the tomcat configuration bu that was it. I going to build a VM to go over this again in case of future disaster recovery, so I be revisiting soon, I have the old machine still intact.
