Hi!

Edit the file /var/opt/scalix/fa/s/sys/version and replace its content with 11.0.2.17. Save and
exit this file, restart the scalix-installer and re-configure all components.

Please feel free to clarify your confusions.

Thanks,
Subir

Seems the backup is creating all the trouble or the backup was not taken properly, and the
Scalix 11 installer is not able to pick the message store.

Can you tell the steps you have performed till now, this would help me understand your
situation.

Thanks,
Subir

3- copy /var/opt/scalix from old hard disk and paste on /var/opt/ of new server
4- modified the /var/opt/scalix/fa/s/sys/version with the version 11.0.2.17
5- tried to reinstall scalix

Hi!

Before creating backup of the message store on the old server do the following:
1. Shutdown Scalix using command omshut
2. Take backup of message store preserving permissions, as there are dependencies of
file permission using the command below:

Code: Select all

[root@subir-rhel4 ~]# cd /var/opt/
[root@subir-rhel4 opt]# tar --preserve --same-owner -cvf scalixdata.tar scalix/*

the above command will restore the owner, permission and order.

On the new server, uninstall existing Scalix, forcibly delete the folders /var/opt/scalix/*,
/etc/opt/scalix* and /opt/scalix*. Now, you can untar the backup file, make sure in this
new server a hierarchy of /var/opt/scalix should exist as the one existed on the old
server.

Create user and group "scalix" with same UID and GID as the one in old Scalix Server,
and try running the scalix installer, which should be prompt/find existing mail store. If not,
stop the installer, try installing from command line and use the --debug switch for the
installer, like:

Code: Select all

./scalix-installer --debug

This option should give you an idea why the installer is missing the existing message
store.

Try the above steps. I am sure they would be helpful.

Thanks,
Subir

Hi!

The information for each user is found in /etc/passwd file, while for group information for
each group could be found in /etc/group. To add a group you can use command groupadd
while to add a user use command adduser or useradd. In RHEL4, these commands are
located in /usr/sbin folder.

The commands gid and uid help in knowing the id's for group and user respectively.

Feel free to clarify your confusions.

Thanks,
Subir

Hi!

Ideally this issue
http://bugzilla.scalix.com/show_bug.cgi?id=12657
has already been fixed.

Can you send the result of commands:

Code: Select all

omsearch -e s=sxqueryadmin*
rpm -qa | grep scalix
omshowmnmp
hostname
hostname --fqdn
hostname -s

Thanks,
Subir
