Purpose of this HowTo

When using Outlook in IMAP or POP3 mode, you don't automatically have access to Scalix' directory, which is the equivalent of the Exchange Global Address Book. However, you can configure Outlook to access the Scalix directory via LDAP. This HowTo will show you how to configure Outlook 2010 so that you can search for other users on the Scalix server even though you're using Outlook in POP3 or IMAP mode.

Step-by-step Instructions

Follow these steps to add the LDAP account into Outlook 2010:

  • Open Outlook 2010.
  • Click on the File tab and select Account Settings.
  • Click on the Address Books Tab and click New.
  • Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP), then click Next.
  • Type in the IP or DNS resolvable name of your Scalix server for the Server Name.
  • Select the This server requires me to log on checkbox and fill out the User Name and Password fields. Use your full email address for the User Name field.
  • Click Next, then click Finish to complete the setup
  • Close and reopen Outlook.
