Changing the reply-to address/name for a user...

Postby framirez » Tue Apr 18, 2006 10:43 am

Here's my setup:
- Scalix 10
- Fedora Core 4

Here's my situation:
Scalix is the mail server for mydomain.com. I have a user that I have created an account for on this mailserver (joe@mydomain.com). Joe has been using his ISP account for quite some time and would still like to continue to use it. We have setup a rule at the ISP to forward all mail sent to joe@isp.com to joe@mydomain.com. All works fantastic with one exception. Whenever Joe sends email from Outlook using the Scalix Connector, his reply-to address is always the name/address listed in SAC. I'd like to change his reply-to address to joe@isp.com. I've changed this in SWA under Tools-Options-From/Reply To but when using Outlook (or SWA) it always takes the address and display name directly from the one under SAC. Is there a way to add an additional SMTP address (joe@isp.com) and make that one the default (kind of like in MS Exchange)?

P.S. I actually do this for myself on a seperate account with my ISP except I use Apple Mail which easily allows to change the display name and reply-to address.

Thanks in advance,

Felipe

Outlook in MAPI mode always uses the first address listed for the user as the outgoing mail address. Outlook doesn't render the complete message, AFAIK, but lets the server do it, and the server then uses that email address. The reply-to address is not filled in at all.

You can change this in an IMAP/POP3 client, because they generate the full emails and directly send them out. So Outlook in IMAP mode will give you this, for example.

The reply-to in SWA seems to work fine, it fills in the address I specified.

Thanks for the tip. I went ahead and added the domain "isp.com" under SAC -> Settings-> Administration -> Settings -> Local Domains. Then added the display name, alias, and the new domain under SAC -> Users -> General -> Email Addresses for that particular user and made that new email address the topmost.

Thanks for your help!
