how to force a user to disconnect

Postby heupink » Wed Apr 12, 2006 6:56 am

dear all,

I have a user that's logged on continuously. And in order to make changes to this user in sac, she cannot be logged on. (i know: has been changed in the latest release that I am not yet running)

Sac shows that she is logged on with outlook. Any ideas how to force a disconnect? (except shutting down the complete server, obviously)

Thanks very much!

not trivial.

you can lock the users account and kill the process.

In Scalix 10, you can force-logout a user more easily as well. Any reasons for you not to upgrade? ;-)

Thx,
Florian.

If you can wait until the end of the day, you can force ALL of the users off by issuing the command

omoff -d 0 rci

This will shut down their ability to maintain a connection. But remember, it will kill everyone's ability to connect. Web, IMAP and MAPI/Outlook. They'll all be dead for the duration of that command.

When you've made the change, you can issue

omon rci

This procedure will allow you to drop all connections while you do work on the server, and still maintain the rest of the server, so inbound email is processed, and inter-server communitations continue, and things like that. The only impact is the end users who are ALL disconnected.
