Change mapi permissions command line

Postby zollikofer » Mon Apr 03, 2006 1:45 pm

Hi

is it possible to change mapi permissions on special folders with command-line programs? I have only found ommapiperms, but this can only show permissions...

Thanks

Toby

Currently this is not possible.

Permissions on Public Folders can be set via the om*acln commands, i.e.

omaddacln, ommodacln, omdelacln

and these server permission "map" to the Outlook permissions model.

Setting MAPI/Outlook permissions on personal folders is not something that is currently possible from the command line.

This is something for consideration in a future release, but it would be interesting to hear your requirement and the priority you'd place on it.

Cheers,
JG

it would be very handy to set some default permissions for private special folders on command line. I need this to set all calendars readable for everyone.

This would save a lot of time.

Cheers, Toby

Hi,

well we developed a nice tool doing such things for you. Normally it was used to save all permissions of all folders within a mailbox at a sourcesystem and store these permission at a new system. So to say we can modify our tool on your demands.

Please send me a pm concerning this..

I wanted to just say that this would be extremely useful, especially considering a situation I am in now.

We had a user leave the company who has 416 folders. Mgmt now wants me to give access to this person's e-mail to two other people. Since everyone uses Outlook, I wanted to just give permissions to the 2 new people, but that'd be almost 2000 clicks (which I'm not gonna do).

Now, I guess I could setup an IMAP account, but there have been problems on this account when viewed via. IMAP with folders magically disappearing, etc., and the only way to fix it was to view the account in Outlook.

Anyways, the point is, it would be really nice to set MAPI permissions and delegates from the command line. :)
