Problem with system check network details

Postby adamlevoi » Thu Mar 30, 2006 12:39 pm

I am trying to install the Community edition but it is giving me the following error on the system check and won't let me proceed:

Network check failed - hosts file is not configured with fully qualified domain name (FQDN)
Network check failed - Invalid FQDN 'mailserver'
Network check failed - IP address associated with host name 'mailserver' is '127.0.0.1'

I have tried different things. the hostname of the server is mailserver and i also have pointed a domain to the server and have configured the firewall with all the ports as per the document, is there anyone out there that could help would an example /etc/hosts file help me.

Can you have multiple email domains on one server and can a users have more than one for e.g. the user Adam has email adam@microsoft.com adam@msn.com adam@windows.com is this possible if so, can they send as each domain or just one.

Thanks in advance
Adam

Scalix has no concept of domain ownership, either there is a match in the SYSTEM directory or there isn't.

You can have whatever address you want for receiving mail. For sending, it gets a little more complex.

If you are using Outlook with Scalix Connect or SWA, the originating address will be your primary internet address. We've raised a feature request for this to be changed but there is no timescale for a fix.

If you are using Thunderbird or a similar IMAP client, you can change the outgoing address to be whatever you want.

Cheers

Dave
