Send Mail not comunicating with Scalix

Hi,

We installed a Fedora 4 server and then we intalled scalix and the problem we are having is that it does not receive or send emails. When we create an account in the OS it receives and sends emails, but the accounts in scalix does not.

When we try the sendmail relay we receive this error:

ERROR SMTP Relay (SMTPD Relay Pr) Mon Mar 27 21:43:14 2006
[OM.DMON 2171] The SMTP Relay could not listen on port 25.
Pid of logging process: 10376

Any help is very appreciated.

I did look at that solution but after trying it, this was my results:

Using FC4

After this configurations I can not send email, I can receive but not send the message to an external email, when I try to send the mail I get this in /var/log/maillog

Now if I change /etc/sysconfig/sendmail to
DAEMON=yes
QUEUE=1h

and the host file as

127.0.0.1 mail.cmsdiginet.com localhost.localdomain localhost mail
10.0.30.105 mail.cmsdiginet.com mail
10.0.30.105 mail.cardmeter.com mail

and restart the services or reboot the server I will be able to send email to external users and sendmail can send and receive emails fine, but scalix users can not receive emails.

You do want your sysconfig file to have DAEMON=yes, but your /etc/hosts file should read:

You'll also need to restart sendmail and stop and restart the Scalix SMTP Relay. I also can't confirm what your /etc/mail/sendmail.cf file looks like from the .mc file because I don't know if/how the .cf has been edited.

Hi. As I mentioned in my previous message, you really don't want to 127.0.0.1 to have "mail" as one of it's aliases, but since you've made it the second entry, everything should pick up the 10.0.30.105 first.

Regarding the specific warning you're getting: "Warning: prog_open: program /opt/scalix/bin/ommapsmtp unsafe: World writable directory", this doesn't have anything to do with the /etc/hosts, /etc/mail/local-host-names, etc, but rather it's saying there's an executable program in a world writable directory. By default /opt/scalix/bin should be 555 with owner and group of bin. Could you post the output from:

It looks like you created your /opt subdirectory as world writable. Unless you have another app that requires it to be world writable you probably want to make it 755.
