so under what container are your users stored? Did you apply the anonymous access flag to the subcontainer as well?

ah, users seem to be under a OU, guess I need to give permission to the organizational unit then, I'll try that now and see

They are stored under the default container CN=Users,DC=mydomain,DC=COM.
Following the Novell instructions, that is the container on which the permissions are applied.
