Rewritting of the to address/reply address

Postby hcamacho » Wed Feb 15, 2006 2:59 pm

Concerning Scalix 10.

I have a number of aliases configured for my email box. For example I have the following

hfc@dc1mail01.???.com
alerts@???.com

When someone sends email to alerts, or any of the aliases scalix rewrites the to: address and makes it hfc@dc1mail01.???.com. I would like to disable this rewritting of the to address.

Hi hcamacho,

Apologies for the delay in responding.
I have verified the bug you reported here and entered it into our tracking system as bug number 11062. It will enter our triage system now and I have tagged it as being very similar to bug 7212 which is currently in the list of bugs we hope to address for the next release.

Thank you for raising this issue.

Regards,
Gren - Scalix Software Engineer.

From an email thread:

When do you think the next release will be for bug fixes? I am sort of in a pickle at this point. I need to develop an email product for our company, and this is a pretty serious bug with regards to how email should funciton. I may have to move away from Scalix if this will take a long time to fix.

At this point it is difficult to give you a specific date for the next Scalix release (with Scalix 10 only just on the streets). Whilst there maybe patch releases required before the next major release train leaves (having reviewed this bug/request) I don't think this is an issue that we would oridinarily consider for a patch release. This is based on a potential "change" in behaviour and the need to test this across the system as a whole.

The current implementation allows a mailbox to be configured with multiple internet addresses that will receive mail, however we do not currently support the ability to "send as" one of these addresses (there have been a number of posts in the forum requesting this functionality). This issue is related in that once inside the Scalix server you are really known as a Scalix mailbox, rather than a specific address that was used to the route the mail to that mailbox.

As I'm sure you appreciate we have to factor a number of issues when deciding what functionality to deliver, if you think you have data to help guide that decision then please let us know.

Your request is a valid one and will be considered for the future, but for the moment we can not give you a commitment or timescale for addressing it.

Cheers,
JG
