ascii code appearing in outlook calendar items ’

Postby ricksaul » Wed Dec 23, 2009 2:44 am

This maybe more an outlook question than scalix however here I go.. We have a user who is sending invtations from outlook to other scalix users and in the content of the email / calendar request we see ascii code than quotes or similar as per below

We should be packed up and off the premises by now and ready
to celebrate with family and friends our Saviour’s birth.

would anyone know why this would be happening ?

thanks Rick

This needs probably a bit more informations about used product versions (Scalix Server, Outlook, Scalix Connect) on all ends of the message chain.

hi .. my version of scalix is scalix 11.4.0.4501, my outlook is outlook 2007 using connector scalix-11.4.0-GA. Does that help ? When a calendar entry is made in outlook and attendees are invited then they receive an email with ascii code instead of characters such as quotes and hypens

eg our Saviour’s birth.

I didnt have the time to search the Scalix bugzilla for this, but there have been a lots of OL2K7 related fixes since 11.4.0. (see http://downloads.scalix.com/rn/scalix-11.4.6-GA-releasenotes.html#mozTocId812913)
Is there a technical reason to defer the upgrade to the latest release?
