Unfortunately, it isn't.
MAPI is an API between Outlook and a Server Connector; the Server Connector can be an MS Exchange Connector (which is built into Outlook) or an external Connector such as Scalix Connect.
So there is no "MAPI communication" between Outlook and Scalix without Scalix connect.
However, the problem described in the original posts is solved already. The upcoming Scalix 10 release, available latr this month, has changed the behaviour of sending "on behalf" to the Outside world.
With Scalix 10, if you send on behalf, it will correctly appear as "sent on behalf" in the Outside world, i.e. Sender and From headers will be different. This behaviour is useful in the case of a assistant/manager relationship.
You can also set a per-user flag that specifies that the actual sender is to be hidden behind the "on behalf" entitiy. This behaviour is useful in the case of a group of people working on behalf of a group entity (such as our Support mailbox) where the individuals should not really reveal their identity.
This and more great things coming up soon, stay tuned.
Florian.
