Upgrade or Migrate

Postby voffice » Tue Mar 17, 2009 3:54 am

I am experiencing Calendar. We want to upgrade the version to see if it will fix the problem. Will that help?

The current version we are running is 11.1 and the latest version is 11.4.3

Our distribution is CentOS 5.0

Can we upgrade on the current machine from 11.1 to 11.4.3. We do not want to do a migration (from one server to another).

There mail store is something like 17G so far. :!:

You will have to be clearer in your description, so we can try to see what the exact issue is. As long as your license allows for an upgrade, you should be able to without a problem. Just run the Scalix Installer. To see if your license allows for it, run sxlicense and check the LVID provided.

Hi

Apologies, let me try and be clearer regarding the error:

When a user opens their calendar we get the following error,

"Error reading data for a recurring Calendar item: XXXX(binary characters)"

I did see this post: http://www.scalix.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=30042

Running sxlicense we are using the community edition

Code: Select all

Scalix License Status

License Type: Community
System Class: Single-Server
Premium Users: 25
Standard Users: unlimited

Basically we are running Centos 5.0 with Scalix 11.1 installed. I looked in the release notes that the issue is fixed in the 11.4.3 release. We just need to know if one can do an upgrade all the way back from 11.1 to 11.4.3?

Many thanks,

Yes, you can upgrade directly from 11.1 to 11.4.3. Just note that once an item is corrupted, it has to be deleted. 11.4.3 should prevent such things from happening, though.

Hi,

Many thanks for the prompt response.

How is it possible to delete the item if technically one cannot open the calendar?

Thanks,

We ran into a slew of corrupt calendar entries when migrating from Outlook PST files to Scalix. We received basically the same error. I had to export the calendar(s) with the corrupted entries to an Excel file (which killed all my recurring items) and then manually looked through it and found ones with weird date entries and fixed them. Lastly, I had to reimport one of the calendars in chunks to find out where the problem entry was.

Scalix 11.4.3 will give you a DirectRef of the message in question. You can then use omcontain to delete that.

Wow, that would have been helpful when we migrated. :)
