Receiving email problem

Postby winux » Thu Feb 09, 2006 1:58 pm

Having a problem sending email.

ISP blocks port 25, thus I setup a mail hop externally to forward the mail to port 587 to here. I set the firewall to virtual server public port 587 to private port 25 to the internal IP.

I can send email fine from Outlook (IMAP; web and scalix having issues currently) to any external address.

I can telnet internally to port 25 on the Scalix server.

However, cannot connect to trittonus.com on port 587 externally.

Question: is there a way to set the Scalix server to listen to port 587 for incoming mail, too?

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Winux,

To answer you specific question, yes, the SMTP Relay can listen on a different socket by editing the /var/opt/scalix/sys/smtpd.cfg file and adding the line:

Code: Select all

LISTEN_PORT=587

then restarting the SMTP Relay by typing:

Code: Select all

omoff -d0 smtpd
omon smtpd

However, based on what you've said here, I don't know if that's the issue. If you've configured your firewall to accept incoming connections on socket 587 and redirect those to your Scalix servers socket 25, then it should work as is. Are you certain your firewall is accepting connections on 587?

Thanks,
Rachel
