Scanning / Antispam emails via fetchmail

Postby peter-s » Fri Jan 27, 2006 8:54 pm

Hi,
I am currently able to scan emails on the way out with openprotect (clamav, spamassassin), and they do not appear to be scanned on the way in.
I am retrieving by fetchmail in the following manner.
poll mail.pcrepeat.com
user "me@mydomain.com"
pass "password"
smtphost 10.0.0.100 smtpname first.last@scalixserver.local
My question is if this bypasses the inbound filters on sendmail, is there another way of configuring the fetchmail to enable the scanning?
Regards,
Peter

You are making fetchmail talk to the external IP address of this host. Essentially, you are talking to the Scalix SMTPD and not to sendmail, which is what you would need to do. The easiest fix is to install fetchmail on the Scalix server and then send it to 127.0.0.1 instead of 10.0.0.100.

Cheers,

Sascha.
