Sendmail / SMTP and Scalix

Postby siabcool » Tue Feb 01, 2005 6:10 am

Hi,

The first time we installed Scalix, we had users setup in Linux, made the scalix users the same, and mail automajically came into The scalix inboxes for those users.

The second time we installed this didn't work, just wondering if anyone knows why.

I thought the way it worked was that the scalix installation appended to /etc/mail/sendmail.cf Then is mail was for that domain scalix was looking after it took it?

Outgoing mail also had a problem, in the webmail program it acme up with:
Methodname=send

Thanks
Jonathan

The Scalix SMTP relay has no real concept of domain ownership. If it can match an incoming address with an entry in the SYSTEM directory, it will accept it. If not, it will pass the message on to sendmail for processing.

The Scalix installation will modify sendmail.cf to allow the same kind of processing to occur but this is never really used unless you have sendmail as the primary SMTP listener.

For the outgoing problem, it's best to check the tomcat logs first to see if anything has been recorded there.

Cheers

Dave
