Sync with PocketPC

Postby pviglucci » Wed Jan 18, 2006 10:32 pm

Can someone tell me how to sync an Outlook Scalix profile with a PocketPC? I have read the previous posts and understand there are issues with ActiveSync. I am hoping that an enterprising user out there has figured out a workaround. Perhaps there is another sync software package that works? I've tried PocketMirror Pro for the PocketPC but is fails miserably. If not, could a support person possibly chime in and give an update as to an approximate time as to when the AcitveSync issues will be resolved? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

pviglucci,

what particular issues are you referring too? While we've seen various smaller problems, depending on the version of Active Sync, Outlook and Scalix Connect for Outlook being used, overall it works quite well and a good number of our customers are using this successfully.

We certainly recommend using Active Sync over other sync packages available for the Pocket PC.

Waiting for your input to further discuss,
Florian.

Hi to all,

we are using version 4.1 of active sync and 9.4.2.6 connector. We have trouble with sent items, which are marked as not sent and lost date of sent time. We have ths problem even when we configure not to sync the emails (just calender, contacts, tasks)

regards, Jochen

Hello,

this is a known bug, the sent folder is indeed not synched. Please note that all our testing was done on Activesync 3.8. The version of AS although is irrelevant for this particular issue.

Cheers,

Sascha.

Hi Florian,

Thanks for the reply. I am having the same issue mentioned in other posts on the forum. Here is the problem:

1) Create an appointment in Outlook.
2) Sync with the PocketPC using Activesync
3) Remove the PocketPC from the cradle and change the date or time of the appointment on the PocketPC
4) Place the PocketPC back on the cradle and sync with Outlook using ActiveSync

Result: The appointment momentarily changes in Outlook and then reverts to it's previous date/time leaving Outlook and the PocketPC is different states. You can watch the appointment jump back and forth on the Outlook calendar.

The behavior is not sporadic and happens every time.

If I create a new appointment on the PocketPC, it will sync properly with Outlook.

I am having no problems with Palm based devices.

Thanks,

Pete

Hello,

this is a known bug as well, sorry to not have better news. Development is working on a fix, but I cannot give you a firm release date yet.

Hello again,

Can you tell me if the problem with activesync mentioned in this thread has been addressed in version 10?

Thanks,

Pete

So has this been addressed in anyway with version 10? If not what's the timeline with this specific issue?

Hi,

same problem here. Data (Calendar, Contacts) edited on PDA are not synced back to Scalix/IOutlook (ActiveSync 3.8, Outlook XP). IMHO this is not a "smaller problem", its a big one!

Is there a known working combination ActiveSync/Outlook/Scalix)?

Zollikofer,

Did you experience the problem with Scalix 10?

I am trying to find out if the problem has been fixed in the latest version.

Hi,

unfortunately, the fix did not make it into the current release. I had been deferred in Dec. to the subsequent release of Figaro. As it is, no workaround is present. Sorry to not have better news.

Cheers,

Sascha.

tnx for reply.

Will this bug be fixed in future? I have to go in production with scalix in 2 weeks, but i can't, if this bug still exists :(

Hi,

yes, it will be fixed, but not in the next two weeks unless a miracle happens (which is entirely possible, yet unlikely).

Cheers,

Sascha.
