can receive emails but can't send them to external domains.

Postby virtuosity » Fri Jan 18, 2008 12:31 am

Hi

I have installed Scalix on CentOS4 and can receive emails from both internal and external senders. I can't send emails to external recipients though.

the scalix logs show an error stating '/var/opt/scalix/sx/s/nls/en_NZ' is missing.

When I look in the '/var/opt/scalix/sx/s/nls/' directory I don't see an 'en_NZ' directory, just ENGLISH.

Can I just add the missing folder manually ?. If not at what point in the install did I choose the wrong thing ?.

Thanks in advance

Hi

The missing language bits are not what causing your issue.

can you look in the sendmail queue
/var/spool/mqueue and see if there are any messages there

Hi Mike

I've checked /var/spool/mqueue and it is empty.

Thanks

Hi John

If you do an

omstat -s does this show any messages in the right hand column, except the Remote Client Interface, which is the number of Outlook / IMAP or SWA sessions attached to the server.

Hi Mike

when I run omstat -s the leftmost column contains all zeros. The second column contains all 'started' or 'enabled'.

thanks

HI

Hmmmm your sent emails are not on your system!!!!!

How do you know they are not being sent
Are they not leaving Outlook

Do a tcpdump etehernetcard port 25 (tcpdump eth0 port 25) while you are sending from Outlook. Do you see any activity?

Hi Mike

Problem solved. It was related to a typo in the DNS entry.

So now I can send and receive to all domains bar my sub-domain, but thats no problem for now.

Just have to resolve my Outlook connector error now and then its all good.

Thanks for all of your assistance.

I'll remember those checks you've alerted me too for future installations.

Thanks again

John
