Migration OX (cyrus) to SCALIX - no IMAPSync possible

Hi I'm new at Scalix, but very happy changing to.
I install it on OpenSuse 10.2 with Scalix 11.2 on a test System. Now everything works fine. (Mail, Fax, SMS - realy great)
Now I have to install my real mail server. But before I can do that, i must save my mails from OX (openXchange) Cyrus, so that later I can import to my Scalix server.
Well I have read many Articles here, but have still no Idea how to do it.
Can anybody help me?? PLEASE ! ! !

In general this is quite easy. Set up your Scalix production system (If you did not start yet I'd propose to use CentOS instead of OpenSuse because its suported better and has less issues with frequent updates ..) as soon as you are done you start creating your mailboxes and then sync the contents between each mailbox using one imapsync-call for each mailbox.

You can do this as often as you want to and keep your current mailserver running until you think you like your scalix setup before you finally switch to scalix for all incoming mail. The run imapsync a last time to get the last mails over to the new server and now you're done.

Hi Andreas.
CentOS is not possible for me. I need SuSE cause i use ferrarifax (http://www.officemaster.de/) which is compiled for suse or redhat. My problem is, that my mail server has specific hardware, and i have to install the new system on it. I also need to change the os on it. So I have to destroy my running (house) system and install the new one. Using sync here is not possible.
My REAL mail server is my own maschine deposit at spezial provider, so I still get mails. But all my mails, fax, sms and many other things are stored on my house mail server.
Thats the situation. So I need to export the mails from cyrus, store them some where and import them later to scalix.

CentOS is a 100% binary compatible clone of RedHat Enterprise Linux (but for free) - so Ferrari works as well ... But thats your choice in the end.

Probably much more important: you cannot use imapsync to store Emails somewhere except you setup another IMAP-Server with all the mailboxes you need. In order to use Imap-Sync both servers source and target have to be up and running IMAP-Servers with all Mailboxes on both sides already setup.

So you will probably be in trouble regarding your plans. You might be able to have two IMAP-servers running on the same machine if you manage to configure different network-ports for them and manage to sync from port to port via IMAP. Or you might setup a virtual machine somewhere with an IMAP-Server (Xen, VMware, VitrualBox, whatever) on the same machine so you can first sync the data via IMAP to the vm, backup the vm-disk-Image, install scalix, restart that virtual machine and use imapsync again to restore the data to the new IMAP-server ....

Well I guess you'd better go and get a second server. Or you can use e.g. Outlook on a client to save each users current mailbox to a .pst-file and then restore it again using Outlook after you managed to get scalix up and running on your Box.

Thanks for your post.
I know the solution with Outlook, but this isn't very professional way of work.
Especially it hide several problems, couse Outlook often loose the message attachments. And other problems are and will be there as well.
It's funny that there really dosn't exist any "right way" to store mails in unique format, so that they could be imported in other mail systems. Hope that someone will solf this issue for the future.
