Folder move from Inbox to top level fails

Postby cransom » Wed Oct 24, 2007 8:05 pm

Hi all,

I'm currently looking into a problem regarding moving folders. We were running under 11.1 when we first noticed the problem so we upgraded to 11.2 to see if it was resolved (it wasn't). We are able to reproduce the problem under multiple mail clients and also under SWA.

To reproduce the error under SWA, create a folder in the Inbox and then try to drag it to the top level. I receive an error "An error has occured. Contact your e-mail administrator if hte problem persists. #CMD017". Subsequently, if I start Thunderbird, I'll receive an error when loading the folder list "The current command did not succeed. The mail server responded: MYRIGHTS failure: can't get rights for "underinbox" ( underinbox was the name of the folder). I then quit Thunderbird and go back to SWA, I can't delete or do anything else to that folder. When I logout of SWA, it won't let me log in due to a password error, however, if I kill all the imapd processes on the scalix box owned by my uid (ps axuww | grep 55004 | grep -v grep | awk '{ print $2 }' | xargs kill ) I can log in again and the folder that was located under the inbox is now in the main level with the rest of the notes/sent/trash folders.

I wonder if anyone else has or can replicate the probem. If there's any logs or output I can provide to help isolate this, let me know. Thanks.

Managed to duplicate problem

I inadvertently reproduced the problem by incorrectly setting up a rule. While creating the rule, I specified the folder as "/example" instead of just "example". Now I can't remove the folder and when I login to the SWA I see the folder on the top level. :(

IIRC / is a folder seperator in IMAP, so it's beneath a folder with an unknown name according to the IMAP server.

I would suggest you use omcontain or Outlook to delete it (omcontain details and password is available elsewhere on the forum)
