Domain on authentication ID rule setting not working

Postby majdi » Thu Oct 25, 2007 3:55 am

Hi,

Changing this setting had no effect and I still had to use the full domain to login. Could this be a bug?

System info;

Running SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 (i586)
Running Linux linux-sbm7 2.6.16.21-0.8-smp #1 SMP Mon Jul 3 18:25:39 UTC 2006 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
Running scalix-11.2.0-GA-core-sles10-intel.tgz

I'm not sure if this is what you mean, but did you have a user whose Authentication ID before had the form UserID@domain.com, and via sac you changed it to UserID only, and now that user can not login via SWA with the "no domain" version?

The rule and the option to append the domain name is regrind the default authentication id for new users. For current users you need to go in and manually change it... or read the non-exsistant documentation to administer mass-changes.

As per the Scalix documentation in the (Admin Guide);

Authentication ID rule: The name or identification used to sign on to the system

To modify authentication ID rule settings:
1 In the Management Console toolbar, click Settings.
2 In the display pane, click the General tab.
3 Under the User Name Settings options, open the Authentication ID Rule
drop-down list.
4 Select the preferred authentication ID format.
5 At the bottom of the display pane, click the now-active Save Changes.

After changeing this I still had to use the full domain to login;

Example;

(userID@example.com) needed as a login instead of the desired login (userID)

For existing users you need to change the Auth ID manually and remove the domain part. This setting only gets used when new users are created.

Thanks Valerion,

I think the Scalix documentation is in need of an update.
