Outlook 2007 IMAP Issue

Postby funkjedi » Wed Oct 10, 2007 3:24 pm

I had my audit log on 11 the other day to troubleshoot some spam issues and noticed something odd.

Whenever one of my users using IMAP with Outlook 2007 connects to the server just before the entry for their sign-on there is an entry like the following:

Code: Select all

user-signon
time 1192043481 Wed Oct 10 15:11:21 2007 -240
user-agent-id IMAP4 Server 11.2.0.11121
client-type 14
client-ip 69.159.xxx.xxx
user 0 <name not supplied> root 0
signon-status 655

followed by the legit user sign-on

Code: Select all

user-signon
time 1192043858 Wed Oct 10 15:17:38 2007 -240
user-agent-id IMAP4 Server 11.2.0.11121
client-type 14
client-ip 69.159.xxx.xxx
user 107 John Doe/scalix/CN=John Doe 55003 55003
signon-status 0

It would seem that Outlook 2007 is not playing nice. Has anyone else experienced this?

I would guess will be addressed when Scalix ships a version of the connector that officially supports 2007. That should be before year end.

Remember, that combination isn't officially supported. AFAIK, it isn't unofficially supported either. :) There are some known issues.

Outlook 2007 should still play nicely with IMAP. I suggest you use Wireshark to trace the IMAP conversation and see if there are two seperate login attempts, and compare this to 2003. If this is different, Scalix may be misinterpreting what Outlook is trying to do, or Outlook is not following the RFC strictly enough. That will depend on the exact commands, of course.
