Recover from files in user directory

I accidentally deleted all inbox messages in an IMAP client (Evolution). However, I went into the deleted items folder and selected all messages and selected "Undelete." This seemed to work in the IMAP client - all messages were back in my Inbox.

The next day I login to SWA, and all of my messages are gone and there's nothing in Deleted Items!!!

Upon researching a little bit, I see that it appears that at least some portion of my messages are in a file in the user directory under /var/opt/scalix/[..]s/user:

If I do a "strings" command on the file 0000001, it looks like I can see evidence of my old messages. Is there a way to get them back from this file?

Sounds as though the msgs are there but the imap cache has got confused - this thread tells you how you can blow this cache away:
