Out of Office filtering rule

Postby Grobi » Tue Jul 10, 2007 6:05 am

Hi everybody,
i have a user called "info" (for info@domain.com) which has forwarding rules to user1@domain.com, user2@domain.com and so on.
The problem is, if somebody sends a mail to info@domain.com and some of the guys (user1,user2) activated out of office then he will be bombed with the OoO messages.
Is there a way to block out of office messages in this case or do i need change the way i create addresses like info@.. ???

Thanks for you help![/code]

I am also interested in controlling automatic replies to the internet.
There must be a way to disable this for general, or for specific accounts (as described above)...

I can't believe that we are the only ones to claim this feature (or the only ones who haven't read the manuals to the end ;-) ).

Please give us a hint.

Arndt.

I think you will find the solution in this thread: viewtopic.php?t=7048&highlight=automatic

you can do this with rulesets.

Depending on if you are using a smart-host or not will depend on how you implement it.

You should notice that OoO replies and a bunch of others in Scalix will get their own addendum header bits. Like so:

Code: Select all

x-scalix-Autoreplied: TRUE
X-Scalix-Class: IPM.Note.Rules.OofTemplate

You will probably want to specify the former line in your rules, as the latter seems to always show up with the former to my experience. You can create rules (scalix mailbox wizard etc allows for filtering by header bits, as well as you can do so using qmail, postfix, and sendmail's scripting and rules abilities) and have these rules discard/blackhole any emails that have headers that match that. We did this with out smarthost forwarding to stop Out-of-Office emails from going out to the 'Net.

If you just need to do it internally, you can apply these kinds of rules to groups I believe, as well as to individual mailboxes to discard autoreplies from scalix. SXAA utility works wonders for that.

We don't want to is block OoO replies or delivery status notifications in general.
Just like Grobi (see above), we also use distribution lists for our info@... addresses and don't want our customers to get a OoO reply if just one of the list members is out of office.

In general out of office reply to the internet is fine for us, but not for e-mail addresses like info@... which are distributed to several people inhouse.

I wonder if rulesets are able to distinguish between original recipient (info@...) and actual recipient (as member of DL)...

Any ideas about that ?
