What is a hosts file to tomcat? A lot it seems

Tomcat is working again. It only took taking some changes out of /etc/hosts.

What works:

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 z9m9z.htt-consult.com localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
74.126.12.147 z9m9z.htt-consult.com z9m9z

What does NOT work:

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
127.0.0.1 z9m9z.htt-consult.com z9m9z localhost.localdomain localhost
::1 localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
74.126.12.147 z9m9z.htt-consult.com z9m9z htt-consult.com yby.org www.yby.org www.test.yby.org

Why????

Oh, and my server is the DNS zone master for all those domains listed in /etc/hosts.
