Can't login to SAC and Webmail

Postby jsitz » Sat Aug 25, 2007 9:39 am

I installed with the help of the manual installation the Scalix CE 11.1. on CentOS 5. But if I try to access the /sac or the /webmail I get the 503 "Service Temporarily Unavailable" error.
I search in the forum and find threads this the problem but it didn't resolve my problem.

Here some infos.

If I make a netstat I can't see port 8009. Same if I make the command top. I'm sure it's a Java and Tomcat problem but how to solve it?

Help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Kind regard

Have you been able to fix this problem yet?

I'm sitting with a similar problem, but get a 404 error when I try and access /sac or /webmail

Hello,

I forgot to mentionned that my server is running on Virtuozzo (Virtual Server based on OpenVZ). The problem is Java who makes trouble on OpenVZ. Here the link for more infos
http://forum.openvz.org/index.php?t=msg&goto=7057& :x

The first thing I do is change
JAVA_OPTS="-server -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Xms512m -Xmx512m" to JAVA_OPTS="-server -Djava.net.preferIPv4Stack=true -Xms128m -Xmx128m" in
/etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/scalix-tomcat.conf.

If you have change it restart Scalix or restart the server than do the top command and take a look at java. Here what I have with Centos 5 on Virtuozzo with -Xms128m -Xmx128m

PID USER PR NI VIRT RES SHR S %CPU %MEM TIME+ COMMAND
16060 root 17 0 388m 115m 14m S 0 3.5 0:50.40 java.

And if you always get the error or errors
"Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
Could not create the Java virtual machine. "

you must do an upgrade for your virtual machine.

Good luck

Kind regards

I am still getting a 404 on sac and webmail as well... Maybe my document root is incorrect? it's set to

/var/opt/scalix/sx/tomcat/webapps/ROOT

This started happening after a upgrad from like 11.0 to 11.3. And ideas or help?

I did few new installation, upgrade, reconfigure, change the ip on scalix before & faced same problem with sac / swa not working but, the first thing I will do is check whether scalix-tomcat listening on correct ip-address. This can be done by using "netstat -tulpn".

Second, remove all old entries for:-
/etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/connector/ajp/app-OLD.*.conf
/etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/connector/ajp/instance-OLD.*.conf
/etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/connector/jk/app-OLD.*.conf
/etc/opt/scalix-tomcat/connector/jk/instance-OLD.*.conf
/var/opt/scalix/old

Third, this should remain untouched!
/etc/apache2/conf.d/scalix-tomcat-connector.conf

Happy tweak on scalix!
