Giving other users access to all folders

Postby kirberich » Wed Aug 15, 2007 8:32 am

I see that it is easily possible to give other users access to my inbox, but how can I give them access to all the subfolders?

Do I really have to add rights for every single user for every single folder? Is there a way to do it easier, maybe from the command line?

I have a feeling that if you assign the required permissions to "default" user (or individual user permissions), any folders you create after that inherit the permissions.
The same goes for nested folders...the parent folder must have the permissions set before creating the nested folders for them to inherit.

the "default" user will give everyone that access.

I guess that would work, but I need that for many users on many computers with folders that already exist.

I have the feeling that the only way will be to edit the folders by hand though.

Or create some bulletin boards (public folders), and have them dump the messages there?

Unfortunately its not something you can do, like deploying a 3d file to several users, there are acl files in their g directory, but also corresponding files in the ~acl/folder directory....DO NOT MESS WITH THEM (from personal experience  )
