Issue with slow SMTPD and Internet mail gateway

Hi,

I have quite a serious issue with the SMTPD and the Internet mail gateway on our server. It seems ok now, but earlier on this afternoon, we had a very slow response from SMTPD - it accepted the connection, but took ages to send the banner, and any other response. Furthermore, the Internet Mail gateway was filling up with messages, and not emptying. All other services (eg Sendmail, Apache, SWA, SAC, and local deliveries) were fine.

We had quite a high load on our server on Tuesday afternoon (averages around 2.0), which was due to omscan running in the middle of the day (!), but it was around 0.8 this afternoon.

Anyone had anything similar?

Hi,

The SMTPD slowness was eventually identified (probably) by a dud DNS server on our side. I had very good support from Scalix using the new ticketing system which helped me resolve this issue.
