Cannot upgrade 11.0.4 to 11.1.0 - license problem

Postby kjakkanen » Sat Jul 14, 2007 1:08 pm

Hi,

Were having a problem upgrading Scalix 11.0.4 to version 11.1.0, the installer does not say it found an existing mailstore nor prompt whether to use it or not, but it does not ask any questions that it would ask during a normal, fresh installation either.

This is not our problem as such, it does find the existing licence but doesn't let us pass that point. The LVID is valid and it doesn't complain about it, but instead it says that the license is not valid for the domain specified (it says the internal LAN FQDN of our server in the form "servername.domainname.internal").

The license lists all domains we can use for email aliases, but we don't send mail out from our internal domain name of course. So why does it complain about that missing from the list? Upgrade from e.g. v10->11.0.3 and 11.0.3->11.0.4 have been successful, does anyone have any idea why it complains now?

--- EDIT 23-Jul-07:

The CLI-version of the Installer works just fine, it seems this problem only exists if starting the GUI-version. Strangely enough.

We also noticed the same behavior with the 11.0.4 installation (a fresh install with just the mailstore from the old server in place) - again it worked when installing from CLI.

Has anyone else been successful in an installation using a private FQDN for the server without having that domain in the Scalix license file? Or should I just contact Scalix and try to get the domain added into the license file (we're anyway expiring on that one on September)?

Not a major issue since we have our server installed using the command line but might be nice to have the GUI also working in the future...

TIA,
Kimmo
