Okay... I just discovered I can't even get intranet mail to deliver.... sending mail from one user to another user results in the message going straight to the drafts folder....

Any ideas?

SO.... I checked my smtpd.cfg and saw that submit is not running. So, I changed it to be SMTP=ON and SUBMIT=ON and then made sure it was listening to localhost:587. Next I went in to swa.properties and updated it to be localhost:587.

NOW... is this the way to set it up!? I only want my domain names to be relayed, and so I have the relay stuff set up the way I know it should be... but I've never dealt with this SUBMIT daemon.... so did I do it right? All my mail is going in and out ok now....

Thanks.

1. are you using external authentication (Active Directory? LDAP?)

2. what does

Code: Select all

lsof -i :25
output?

florian, I have same problem, but no logs in catalina.out, and the only messages move to "Drafts" is sending to internal recipients! For external recipient, email goes out, even I cc to internal recipient, there is no problems. Any hint on this?

the post is in this thread or other threads? There are many threads about "Draft" when I search, and they are different. can you give me the link of your post or some search keywors?

All the previous post doesn't apply to me :(

I don't have external auth, I have SASL pack, no catalina.out error, I have password for each user... The only different is I have the following log:
ERROR Browser (Index_Browser ) 08.01.07 12:15:56
[OM 0]
Last Msg Id: 28858038.2801185984938897.JavaMail.root(a)imcamk-mx01.infomaxcorp.com
Last Msg DirectRef: 000482aaa60cd8b3

I think this belongs to this error.

And, this error happened just after I tried to change Server IP yesterday. Of course, I changed back, but no lucky...

Please help me :?

Hello,

after spending days on the scalix/sendmail configuration and reading tons of threads about it I am quite frustrated and I don't have a clue how to solve this problem. I have the same problem with sent mails being placed into the drafts folder when using swa. Having a look into catalina.out I get the output below every time I want to sent an email. In my current configuration, I have to disable smtp auth in my imap email client otherwise I will get the same error in mail log as you can see below when sending mails. So I assume my linux.mc on my stupid suse is misconfigured regarding the authentication (?). With a fresh install emails can be sent (internally) without problems, but as I need smtp relay-auth I had to change the sendmail configuration, respectively had to write a new one.

But now I am completely frustrated and don't know what to try next. I hope you guys can help me and the logs below are not too much.

\\Christoph

new reply for purposes of clarity...

today I raised the sendmail loglevel to see what happens in smtp itself. The result is as expected:

I decoded the username/password to make sure they are correct and they are. So I assume that sendmail/sasl does not know where to look for the authentication data of scalix an I don't know either.

Could some please tell me what I forgot to configure here?

Thank you in advance

You can use the rimap method in SASL, but that's not supported by all the AUTH methods (the MD5-ones, for example).

What I ended up doing is to run sendmail on port 25, and Scalix's SMTPD on port 587, and let all my auths happen against port 587.

From my smtpd.cfg:

Code: Select all

EXTENSIONS=AUTH,DSN,8BITMIME

# Uncomment the following lines to enable the Submission and LMTP listeners
SMTP=OFF
SUBMIT=ON
#LMTP=ON

Code: Select all

[SUBMIT]
LISTEN=host.domain.com:587,localhost:587
# Reject all anonymous connections

</debug></e:MessagingException></detail></SOAP-ENV:Fault>

I've tried setting the swa.email.smtpServer in swa.properties to the FDQN of the server, to 127.0.0.1 and even to another scalix server that is working just fine.
I'm using ldap auth, and setting a user password in scalix itself does solve the issue, but it has to be the same as the ldap password, so this is no solution.
Also, i have ither servers installed exactly the same way that work...
I'm lost :-(

Have you set the LDAP authentication in /var/opt/scalix/??/s/sys/pam.d in smtpd.auth? Have to be the same as in ual.remote. Also, telnet to the same IP/hostname and port and make sure you get a Scalix banner back, and not a sendmail one.
