problems after a failed upgrade to 11.1

Postby tbone » Thu Jul 05, 2007 3:25 pm

Heres what happened:

I upgraded from 10.0.3 to 11.1. The upgrade went fine, till I was asked for my new license, because my old one had a LVID that was too old. my message store was allready changed to the new structure so rolling back to 10.0.3 forced me to restore a backup along with the old message store. My RPM database became inconsistent with the installed binaries from the backup.

Now I tried to upgrade to the lastest (11.0.2) allowed with my current license but the install process didnt upgrade my message store, so 11.0.2 wont run on my old message store.

So again Im restoring my old 10.x binaries with 10.x message store.

Im currently awaiting a quote for an updated license, so when I get my new license, how do I fix this ??

I was thinking about dumping all the public folders in .pst files, and omcpoutu all the users in files, and then installing 11.1 from scratch, importing all my users again with omcpinu.

Will this work omcpinu from 10 to 11?

Is there any other way to force my existing 10.x message store to be converted to 11.1 after the binaries are installed?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Fix the RPM. save you a lot of time.

If I were you I'd be fixing my RPM database first, then an upgrade from 10.x to 11.x should work and should upgrade your mailstore.

Remember that if you do an omcpoutu/inu or sxmboxexp/imp that this will create copies of mail in every mailbox for every users. Whereas right now a mail message that is sent to every user only has one copy in the database, after an omcpoutu/inu it would then have one for every recipient. Which means that the message store size will become larger over all and for all users. If disk space isn't a problem and you don't fixe the RPM then this maybe what you will have to do.

Also any personal settings of OOA, autoforward, etc will be lost with an omcpoutu/inu.

just my .02c worth.
