Scalix alternatives?

Postby SaltamonteZ » Mon Jun 25, 2007 2:54 am

After there has been no help for my question here...
viewtopic.php?t=7854
... I guess I will not be able to make scalix work.
This leads me to a hopefully more simple question: Is there a good alternative to scalix? Easy to install would also be nice ;-).

Thx in advance

Have you considered an OS alternative? Why not try a fresh install of RHE4? Have you noticed how seldom people post problems specific to redhat?

It runs fine under SuSE. Have you made sure to install the 32bit packages?

It is a shame Scalix does not put any effort into helping users.

Also Zimbra seems like a good alternative, I think they ahve a better mentality regarding their product. The only problem is you MUST use their Apache, PHP, etc.

It's funny how different people have a different experience of Scalix.

I have found nothing but help on the forums. Sometimes you (and/or I) might post something which lacks any real detail, and others tend to browse over it, not really being able to help. I have seen over and over again that if you keep troubleshooting, and keep posting where you are up to, at some point someone will jump in with some help.

Graham, Thanks for the kind words of support.

SaltamonteZ, Sorry for the delay, as I said in my private message, I'd be happy to assist, just send me some contact info, and we'll get it working.

Thanks
Kev.

Well, if you really want to judge the quality of our help and support by one or few posts that haven't been responded to quickly as compared to thousands of threads that have had responses over time ...... also, if you need support with a defined SLA and response time you can still purchase/open a support incident with Scalix Support....

What operating system are you using Scalix on?

Cheers,
Florian.

It is open SuSE 10.1.

I noticed in SWA I can search the contacts, that does work.

Also I did not mention it but in Outlook for example I can search some message text that will not be found or if the email address from of a message is "mycooldomain" If I do a search of "domain" it might find 1/2 the messages, compared to Outlook search of PST file. I feel it was much better. Perhaps related with the SWA issue?

Also any reason why the URLS in SWA do not work, URL or link that comes embedded on the message? It will display (Firefox) at the bottom something like "Javascript:Void(0)" but if I view the source of the frame (message) I see just the normal link < a href=http://........

Anyways my coworker was also told the upgrade to 10.1 should be flawless (currently 10.0.25.4) I will attempt the upgrade.

Did the upgrade, honestly it would have been simpler just to install the RPMs. Manually had to chane a few confis.

Search still does not work.

Admin Guide 11.0.2 is of no help. It reads like "Scalix for dummies" and manpages of omxxxx cli tools.

How do you change SIS URL of a user?
