Carbon-Copies empty

Postby B.O.F.H. » Mon Nov 21, 2005 4:40 am

Hi,

when I'm writting Mails and add an email-adress to the CC field, the mail will be send correctly to the addressee, but the Carbon-Copy is empty. The problem exists if I send to another Scalix-User or to an external mailadress.

I turn the auditing of the entire system on to level 15, but there is nothing unusual i think. No errors are logged.

Does anybody knows this X? Do I have any other controlling/logging options?

We are using Scalix Server 9.1.0.81 with Scalix-Connect 9.1.1.11

We found a similar problem where blank messages were sent but this happened if the message was auto-saved to drafts first.

I'd strongly advise you upgrading to 9.4 as we fixed the above issue in 9.2.

Cheers

Hi Dave,

thanks for your fast answer.

Is it possible to upgrade on a SuSE Prof 9.1
In the docs I read that SuSE Prof 9.3 is required...

Is there maybe an other option to fix my problem without upgrading the Server-Software?

Hi Thorsten,

unfortunately no; Scalix 9.4 only runs on SuSE Pro 9.3; this is, why for production environments, we recommend using the Enterprise versions of the OS, i.e. SLES9 in this case. They have a much longer lifecycle; we cannot provide support for multipile releases of the same "community" OS - they are just too many and we run all our QA tests on all platforms; the matrix is already enormous today, but we have to do it to keep up our quality level.

cheers,
Florian.

Suse 9.1 pro to SLES 9

Since SLES9 is basically built from Suse 9.1 pro, the upgrade is very easy. I'd strongly recommend going that route, rather than upgrading to suse 9.3 (assuming you go the upgrade route at all.)

The only problem I've ever found is that if you use a megaraid card, the driver was changed and often the old devices are no longer recognized by the driver. It can be worked around, but you should be aware of it, because it's a pain, and a stupid one. It's an issue for all of the OSes that upgraded the driver. If it's a newer device, you'll be fine, but the Dell's PERC and PERC2 cards, as well as the older Compaq SmartArray cards used this driver, and break.

In the short term, the easiest fix is to just not upgrade the kernel.

Hi,

we have a similar problem:

A user compose a message in OL03 with CCs and BCCs and _sometimes_ only an empty messages is sent.
A mail with text and attachments will be sent without the text but with the attachment.
In sent-mail Folder there's the crippled message.
happens with Connector 9.4.2, Server 9.2.0
Is this a know Scalix bug (or MS bug) and is this fixed in newer Version (9.4, 10) ?

Regards, Georg

For the people I support that saw this problem, it went away when they migrated to the 9.4 MAPI driver. We upgraded the server at the same time as the MAPI drivers.
