Install problem

Postby nbudhdev » Sun Dec 05, 2004 4:16 pm

Hi.
I installed Scalix evaluation on a Fedora Core 3 machine but the install wizard could not find the appropriate RPM to install the software. I noticed elsewhere on the forum that the wizard cannot continue if it cannot find a RPM for the appropriate platform - that is, if there isn't a RPM for FC3, it will not be able to continue. Is that correct and will I have to actually install FC2 to install Scalix? Or can I change the 'platform.tcl' file so that I can install Scalix without resorting to a new install of FC2.
Your help with this is greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Our list of supported platforms is documented in the install guide. At present we don't support FC3 which means that it hasn't gone through our QA cycles.

As I personally haven't tried a FC3 install, I can't relay any experiences but given that our engineering department are building the next release to include a FC3-specific release, I wouldn't raise your hopes about getting the FC2 RPM to work correctly.

Cheers

Dave.

Install problem

Thanks for the response.

Based on what you said, it looks like I'll have to install FC2 to be able to install Scalix.

Any idea when you might be releasing your next build that will include support for FC3? If that is imminent, I will hold off installing FC2 but if it not going to be released until January or so, I'll install FC2.

Thanks!

Neil.

The next release is scheduled for early next year so I'd carry on with testing on FC2.

Cheers

Dave.
