Moving Scalix mail store to an other partion

Postby FlashOver » Mon May 21, 2007 7:30 pm

I have one sever here with scalix, but the first partition whre all is installed is near 100%. so, I added a new partition where I like to move all scalix mailbox files to.

but my problem is to locate the scalix mail store folder.

I like to create an symbolic link from the old folder to the new on the second partition.
but - I can not find the right place where the files are stored to.

can somebody tell me wehre they are stored?
Or, can somebody tell me wehre to chanoge on an other way the store directory location?

Thanks in advance...

Hi!

The Scalix Message Store, the configuration files, the logs, and any language files are
installed in the /var partition, in /var/opt/scalix directories created during the installation
process.

Some versions of Linux include a Logical Volume Manager (LVM). Scalix Corporation
recommends using a LVM volume for the /var partition. This enables you to increase the
size of the /var partition as needed, or to back up the Scalix Server, without having to
shut down the system. For more on installing and using LVM, see the Scalix Support
Knowledge base(http://www.scalix.com/knowledgebase), which includes a tech note
on the subject. Search for string LVM.

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Subir

perfect.
I stopped all scalix services, changed the label of /var/opt/scalix to scalix-old, added a new partition with the mountpoint /var/opt/scalix and that works perfect - after restarting all services... One reason more to be happy with linux servers :o)

So - If I would like to save all files within scalix for a backup, is it enough to backup this folder, so that I could install a new scalix server - add this folder to the right place and it would run?

Thanks very much for help! !!

Hi!

That's great. The data required to bring back Scalix, is a backup of /var/opt/scalix
make sure you restore the ownership and permission of files while taking backup.

Thanks,

Also remember that if you restore these files to a new server, that server has to have the same name and IP address as the original server.
