Out of Office replies

Postby Imran.Patel » Wed Nov 16, 2005 10:27 am

The scalix out of office is meant to send only one reply back to the sender; however a user has mentioned that they have received one for every email sent to another user. I have seen the setting in outlook however could it be because the out of office was set via webmail and something needs changing on that?

Hi. Out of Office will only send out one reply per originator per 24 hours. So, are you certain the user set the Out of Office Action as opposed to something like "Reply with a Specific Message" action?

Thanks,
Rachel

Rachel, can we change this? I'll be away for several weeks, and already my 'out of office' message is generating complaints.

Once a week would be more than enough - is there a switch that can make it 7 days as opposed to 24 huors?

You can change the out of office settings for all users on the server in the SAC. Select Settings/Server/Mail and at the bottom of the right hand page is the field to set the number of days the message is sent out. It is not configurable through SWA or Outlook.

Don

One quick warning about making this change in Scalix versions prior to 9.4. SAC will write a line into your /var/op/scalix/sys/general.cfg file that reads something like:

LD_AUTOREPLY_EXPIRY_TIME=3d

if, for example, you set it to 3 days. You'll need to manually edit the above file and change it so that it reads:

LD_AUTOREPLY_EXPIRY_TIME=3

Thanks,
Rachel
