Service Router SERIOUS ERROR

Postby rudi » Fri Nov 04, 2005 8:48 am

Hi,

I have this message in the fatal log file:

SERIOUS ERROR Service Router(Incoming Trans) 11.04.05 13:23:45
[OM 1001] Transaction File record size is out of bounds
Pid of logging process: 11148

Do you know what this mean?

Thanks for help!!!

Hi,

Go to /var/opt/scalix/xport.hold and see if there are any files in this directory. Restart Scalix and see if the error is cleared up. If it is (or even if it isn't), put these files back in xport.hold and run:

xport.in -H

This will resubmit the messages.

This error can happen after restarting Scalix. This directory is a holding area for incoming and outgoing messages and items can (sometimes) get stuck if Scalix is restrated unexpectedly (server crash, power failure...).

SERIOUS ERROR fatal log

Postby rudi » Wed Nov 16, 2005 3:21 am

Hi,

I went to /var/opt/scalix/xport.hold and there are many files like 15265.1 and so on. I have run xport.in -H an after that I have restarted the scalix system and after that the error is listed again in the fatal log (about 100 times):

SERIOUS ERROR Service Router(Service Router) 11.02.05 17:17:42
[OM 5183] A Mapper error has been detected.
Pid of logging process: 5394
Current errno value: 4

Can I delete this files in /var/opt/scalix/xport.hold?

Thanks!!

Do not delete the files in this directory.

Do you have ClamAV installed? If so, in var/opt/scalix/sys, edit the omvscan.cfg file so that debug logging in increased to "3". The output will go to /var/opt/scalix/tmp/clamav.log.

When you get a chance, post the output and I'll take a look...

Hi,

Yes, I have installed ClamAV on the Scalix System and set the LogLevel to 3. But in /var/opt/scalix/tmp/ there is no clamav.log file. The output in the /var/opt/scalix/logs/omvscan.log is this:

Sorry... you're right. That's the one I meant.

Anyway, it looks good to me. I was thinking that that was causing the mapper errors.

BTW, is this error still occuring?

SERIOUS ERROR fatal log

Postby rudi » Fri Nov 18, 2005 4:19 am

Yes, the error happen, after I restart the scalix system. The files in the /var/opt/scalix/xport.hold directory are older than 2 weeks. I think this error was occur, when I set the dirsync. But he dirsync between the two scalix systems runs now without problems.
The files in /var/opt/scalix/xport.hold contains messages of "unknown mailer error 1" and this messages should be send to a receipient that doesn't exists. So the messages cannot be sent.

Hope this helps!

Do you have BB sync setup? I assuming that you might, since you are doing dir syncs...

If this is so, then the error messages you are getting (Transaction File record size is out of bounds ) are caused by a Scalix Server bug - the way that the BB server and xport.in function together.

Try restarting the Service Router, then enter

Code: Select all

xport.in -H

Let me know if this clears it up. If not, I'll have to consult with Eng and see how we can get these messages submitted.

Hi,

I have started in a cron job the Scalix Weekly Maintenance Report and in the output there come following:

Orphans found ....
Orphan name Orphan type
~/data/0000001/0000u15 Transaction file.
~/data/0000001/0003bge Container.
~/data/0000001/0003v60 Transaction file.
~/data/0000001/0009611 Transaction file.
~/data/0000001/0009jqa Transaction file.
~/data/0000001/0009lb4 Transaction file.
~/data/0000001/0009mru Transaction file.
~/data/0000001/000c00n Transaction file.

Have this to do with the serious error in the fatal log?

Thanks!!

Hi,

No, I don't think so as the "Transaction File..." error is a bug that should be fixed in the next release of Scalix.

To clean up the orphans, enter:

omscan -a -f

However, you won't see a new report until next time omscan runs.

Can you post the contents of one of the messages in the /var/opt/scalix/xport.hold directory. Restarting the SR really should have cleared this out... ?

Thanks for help!

have you followed the troubleshooting steps documented in this thread?

also, is this a multi-server installation in a mixed scalix 10/scalix 11 environment?

Florian.
