Several problems

Postby Oscar » Tue Apr 24, 2007 3:36 am

I am using Scalix 11.0.2 and Fedora Core 5.

I experience several problems:

- I have a Thunderbid client set up with IMP and my folders do not refresh. When I got a new message, the client does not prompt any alert until I click the application.
I first thought it was a Thunderbird issue, but later I tried with Outlook Express and experienced the same problem. I have been testing with webmail and I have the same problem, too.

- I have a Premium user with Outlook Express. When he clicks Send and Get, an 'unable to read "#Scalix" "IMAP Oddpost mailbox" folder' error appears.

- I need to move an email system from POP3 to Scalix. When I try to move the Thunderbird/Outlook Express folders to Scalix, the application does not allow me to do it recursively. So, I have to move them individually. Is there any option to move the folders recursively?

Not too sure I totally understand your issues, but let's give it a go :->

IMAP clients do not get a notification of new mail as soon as they are delivered. You have to connect to the server to get them. Usually you set up the client to autocheck for new mail every minute. If you used the Scalix Connect for Outlook and Outlook (2000,2002,2003) you will get instant notification of new mail arriving.

You said you have a Premium user on Outlook Express? That is not needed. A premium user is one that uses the Scalix Connect for Outlook. A standard user uses POP/IMAP/SWA for the mail. The error you get, I am not sure on.

For moving users from POP3 to Scalix, are they using Outlook and the Connector for mail? Best way is to create a new profile in Outlook for them to the Scalix box, then import their PST file into their mailbox.

If your clients are using Outlook Express, you would have to import their mail into Outlook first and then import it into Scalix.

If you are just changing which server they POP their mail from, just change the settings to the Scalix box and away you go.

Hope that helps,

Please accept my apologies, I have not explained the issue well enough.

- The problem I have is that my email applications do not alert me when a new incoming message arrives. Usually, when I get a new message, the name of the folder which receives the message is marked in bold and "(1)" appears next to it. This means there is 1 new message (unread) in the folder. I am using Thunderbird and Outlook Express and, when I get a message, the application does not warn me until I manually click the folder.

- As for the other issues, thank you very much.

Is 'IDLE' enabled in Tbird for the Scalix acount under servers > advanced?

Also, you may need to make sure Tbird's checking all folders for new mail:
