Configure Scalix LDAP in Outlook

Postby esanchez » Tue Oct 11, 2005 4:36 pm

Hi!,
I'm trying to access the Scalix LDAP through Outlook.
I must mention that this client is no connected to
the scalix server, just want to access de LDAP
info in it...

In Tools-> Email Accounts I add another Directory
It asks me for the server name, I give the ip address for it.
Reading the forums I noticed that some people use
What should I type in the search base.
I typed something like:
cn=Scalix dc=scalix,dc=mydomain,dc=com

but I get no info.
Any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance,
-eduardo s.m.

The base for the SYSTEM directory is o=Scalix.

If you want to access your personal contacts, the base is o=MyContacts but you need to authenticate with the LDAP server to access this. Your DN for authentication should either be "cn=User Name" or "omulauthid=authid".

Cheers

Dave

I tried that, but no info appears in my address book when I choose de Scalix directory.
What I want to do is to retrieve the list of users of Scalix....
any other advice?

Identical problem.

I actually want to do this so I can provide a list of users & email addresses to a photocopier so that people can email a scan (turned into a PDF) to themself.

I saw that I likely need to enable the general.conf setting listed a couple of posts earlier, but will the bug prevent me from succeeding with that anyways?

Can I create a workaround by setting up a cronjob to bounce ldap every minute or so? What would the consequences of that be? (IE Would I screw up people trying to sign in, or would it just take a second longer sometimes?)

THanks
Kev.

curiosly I could configure the LDAP access in Outlook Express but not in Outlook 2003.
I used the base dn o=Scalix and worked great in Express but the same configuration
in Outlook 2003 doesn't retrieve any results...
