Installation Files - wizard does find them

When I run the scalix-wizard, it run to the point of asking for the installation files. I point to the directory where the files have been loaded, but they don't show up in the wizard.

If I display the directory (outside of the wizard) the 18 rpms supplied are in there.

The wizard is written to show the most appropriate RPM for the platform you are installing on.

If the platform is not one that we support, you will not see any RPMs.

What platform are you using ?

I do not know what the original poster's os is but I am experiencing the same problem. I am trying to evaluate Scalix 9.1 on CentOS 3.3 which is a RHEL3 clone. As far as I know the only things different between Red Hat's version and CentOS is the copyrighted logos and some propriotory gui interfaces. My installation looks just like a Red Hat installation and I have run the up2date utility sucessfully.

Will the Scalix wizard continue to fail due to running the Red Hat clone or is there a known work around or a command line installation process that I could run to get Scalix installed?

The wizard determines which RPMs to offer by looking in /etc/redhat-release or /etc/SuSE-release PLUS it uses those files to run an RPM query on either of those files in order to determine the platform.

If the RPM name it builds does not exist, you're not going to see anything offered.

The tcl source for the wizard can be found in /usr/lib/scalix-wizard if you need to know the exact process but this isn't something that we can help you with if you intend to install on a platform that is not listed as one we support.

Thanks for the pointer. I was able to sucessfully install Scalix 9.1 after modifying the platform.tcl file located in the /usr/lib/scalix-wizard/linux directory. I changed 'set ver [exec rpm -qf --qf "%{VERSION}" /etc/redhat-release | tr -d \[:alpha:\]]' to 'set ver 3' in the getComptiblePlat section of the file. I did this due to not knowing what text was contained in the original redhat-release file.

Everything seems to be running fine but further testing is in order.

When defining a Scalix Outlook profile I had to disable the fiewall installed on the Scalix server. Connecting with Outlook also fails if the firewall is in place. Can someone point me in the right direction as to which ports need to be opened up on the firewall for normall operation?

Both the http (8080 port) and the ssl (8443 port) web interface works correctly through the firewall at this time.

Do the rpm's have to be renamed ?

In that case, you do not need to make any modifications. The wizard will be looking for:

scalix-server-9.1.0.81-1.rhel3.i386.rpm

in the directory that you called scalix-wizard from. Otherwise, you need to point the wizard to the location of the install RPMS.

Thansk for the file name. I have just relised something. I am using a MAC, and when it uncompressed the file, due the restriction length with the mac, it has cropped of part of the filename.

I am trying it again, but I am sure it will work. Will post back here shortly

As others have mentioned, I am experiencing the issue where the installation cannot find my RPMs even though they are in the directory. I am aware of the platform dependence issue, but I am running SUSE Enterprise Version 9 which I thought was a supported platform. Is this incorrect or is the error the result of another issue? Please let me know. Thanks .TTYL.
