Port 25 issues

Postby billr » Tue Jan 09, 2007 12:32 pm

Hello,

I have a Scalix Community 10 build on Fedora Core 4. Although sending and recieving emails functions correctly when sent / recieved from internal accounts, recieving email from external accounts is not working.

Running an nmap on our IP address / email domain tells me that port 25 is closed externally. This leads me to think that my modem / router is blocking it. I have disabled the firewall and set port forwarding for port 25 to the internal address of our Scalix server.

Despite this, nmap still shows it as closed. I have contacted my ISP (Demon UK) and confirmed that they are not blocking port 25. I have swapped out my modem (for the same model) incase it is faulty.

Is there anything I am missing and are there any ADSL modems that people can recommend for this setup?

Thanks for your time!

Hey!

Can you give me more information?
When you do a telnet to your internal server address on port 25, what do you get?
What's your router configuration? How's your modem configured?
Do you created some forwarding rules for port 25? How does they look like?

Hello,

Thanks for your reply but we have it working. The router had port rules for 25 but it wasn't functioning correctly. I have swapped it out and now it runs fine.

Thanks again!
