Install: Cannot determine configuration for eth1

Hi all, I've been going through the forums over the last few days for a solution, but haven't found it yet. I'll keep reading, but I'm hoping someone can assist in the meantime.

I'm trying to install Scalix Commnunity Edition on RHEL AS3. During the setup, I'm receiving this error message: ould not determine network interface configuration for eth1

Currently, eth0 is on the LAN and eth1 is on the internet. Both cards have static IP addresses and IP Forwarding is enabled to allow other LAN clients internet access.

I've seen others post the debug output from the installation, so here's mine.

Hi ,
the log is explaining that the installer checking for DHCP for the eth1 Card

this is really a strange case where u r saying that both the ethernet are on static IP
and installer are looking for DHCP. can you please verify whether the configuration is correct and DHCP not enabled and also please let me know the /etc/sysconfig/network output for the same

I have the same problem and my debug also shows that it is trying to verify a DHCP config on a completely static network device. I have reviewed my configuration over and over and it is definitely static and all of my network communication around it is working accordingly. My /etc/sysconfig/network shows this:

HOSTNAME=mail.osjl.com
Any information on resolving this would be much appreciated.

This code has been re-written in 11.04 and I am hoping the problem will be resolved now. If you are able to please re-test with 11.04 when it's released.

Hmm, I ran into the same problem again when trying to update my server to 11.1.X
First install's been a while back...
The installation-script (again) hung on the "Could not determine network configuration for eth1"-issue. I use static IP adresses for both interfaces and eth1 is LAN.
I run FC5 and named my devices in the device manager's nickname tab by function. Seems as the installer-script gets in trouble with this. I could persuade the script to continue flawlessly simply by renaming my devices from WAN/ LAN back to eth0/eth1.

Just wanted to let you know...
