then i guess to get any help with this you will need to open an official support case with Scalix Tech Support. I'll ping back if I can think of anything else.

I can only say that in general terms it works very well.

Cheers,

Thanks for your help Florian...

How do you think about a new installation of scalix server with the "new" Language environment?

well, i don't know. I usually don't believe in "just start fresh", without understanding what went wrong in the first place. however, setting your SuSE default locale to en_US.UTF-8, rebooting, doing a fresh install would at least remove most possible caveats in that space.

okay i'll set the Suse installation to en_US.UTF-8 and then an uninstall/fresh install of the scalix server in this environment.
english locale and a german scalix installation dosn't conflict?

there is no "german" scalix installation - scalix is always bilingual, german and english. the actual language is determined by client and browser settings.

Hi florian,

i've done a complete uninstall of scalix-server and a fresh install again...

same procedure  the users with german umlaute now importet but with placeholder(?) and they are still not accessable in scalix!

Now i do a complete fresh install of the OS!
By the way it is a Suse 10 OSS in the 64bit Version - could the 64bit be a problem?

Greetings

no, not really - 32 and 64 bit should behave the same in such context, but obviously you never know.

Obviously, go ahead with your complete redo. if that fails i would like to revisit the possibility of looking at your system myself as i'd like to understand what's going on here. Obviously we could go through a more private communication channel for you to provide me with access credentials and we could lock it down to our offices IP address if you would want to?

Let me know how it goes,
Florian.

;-) I guess I could cover most of that.... Enjoy your Munich trip - where are you from?

Cheers from San Mateo, California, though I would normally be in Frankfurt...
