Stop hostname removal?

Postby sol9001 » Mon Nov 06, 2006 4:34 pm

I am setting up a demo system and need to stop scalix / sendmail removing the hostname on outgoing mail. People cannot reply to user@domain instead need to use user@host.domain Can someone suggest how / where to do this?

Many thanks

By default the hostname is not rewritten, I think.

1) Check that the first email address on your test server is user@host.domain, as that is used by Scalix to send outgoing mail

2) Check /etc/mail/local-host-names to ensure the host's FQDN is in there.

Thanks for the info - I entered the fqdn host details in /etc/local-host-names and checked the email address was only user@host.domain but the From: envelope is still being rewritten and stripping out the hostname. Would appear I need to use the FEATURE(stickyhost) in the sendmail.mc and regenerate the sendmail.cf - not being a sendmail expert I am not sure of how this would affect the scalix entries in the sendmail.cf file which appear to be inserted into the original sendmail.cf without using m4. Or is there another way to keep the hostname in the From: envelope header?

Many thanks for your help

Apologies I think the problem arose at the receiving host which was rewriting the envelope not the sending host from scalix. Still learning but I really like what I have seen so far.

Thanks
