Hi Gordon,

To know more what you can do with public folders I would suggest you to read Chapter 10 of Administration Guide that talk about public folders in details. This can be found on the scalix.com website in knowledge base.

Although you have not asked about mailbox but still you can set mailbox size limits via the SAC. You can do this for all users or individual users. Scalix does have a limit on the maximum number of items PER FOLDER (size of items, size of mailbox in total is completely irrelevant). I believe there is a limit on the number of items in a single folder (just over 30,000).

Thanks!
With Warm Regards,

size limit of public folder important

Postby gordontin » Thu Nov 02, 2006 11:55 am

I have read the chapter 11 public folder which doesn't not solution for folder size limit. In fact that is very important issue because if you don't limit the size, it will out of control when user keep store info in the folder.

Do you know where is file location in the server?
Would i be able to limit the size using disk quota??

Disk quotas will definatedly not be the way to go, the Public Folder items and all the mails in the individual user mailboxes are intermingled in /var/opt/scalix/data in a very complex setup (efficient for a machine to read, but not humans, IMO).

Have a look at the man page for ommaintbb, it will be able to age and delete items based on certain criteria.
