Hey,

I've just installed Scalix 10 on Centos, and it is really handy ;-)

I have 3 accounts, they all havee their own mailbox. There is also 1 mail adress info@domain.com, which all the users should share. I think that the inbox and the send mail of that should be stored in a public folder.

How can I do this?

There's really no good solution for what you're asking about, but there are some decent workarounds.

Ok, in order for email to be delivered to a public folder, create the public folder, I'll name it INFO for the purposes of this posting

Then, go to the command line on Scalix, and type:

omaddent -e "G=INFO/S=+BB/OU1=<YourMailnode>/DDV1=INFO/DDT1=BB-NAME/IA=info@yourdomain.com"

This will add an entry to the addressbook for the public folder.

Most of the time when this happens, you'll also want to allow people to recieve attachments. Historically, that was disallowed by default, so that may have changed, but if you find that emails with attachments are being bounced, then type:

omlistbbs -b

This will give you a number for the Folder. That number is used by Scalix to refer to it internally. Then type:

ommodacln -t bulletin -b <TheNumberFromAbove> -g default -c +attach

This will allow inbound email to arrive in there. There will be 2 potential problems.

1) replies will not go there unless the sender drags them there manually.
2) replies will be sent from user@domain.com rather than info@domain.com.

That may or may not be an issue depending on how you're using info@domain.com.

Hope that helps.
Kev.

Thanks for your answer! Isn't there any way to send the emails from info@yourdomain.com? Is it possible in another mail client like thunderbird or outlook? Then I could make a rule that moves all the mail sent from info@yourdomain.com to the public folder. Or is this possible in the newer scalix 11 beta?

Why not make info@domain.com a group, that way any mail to info@domain.com will go to all members of that group, very much like a mailing list.

Then, there would be no need to "share" the inbox, because everyone will already have all of those emails. I do this for all my info@ support@ etc types of addresses.

Okay, but everybody has to see the sent mail and the inbox. And then info@ should be delivered to a specific folder.(not the normal inbox) Isn't there any way to choose from which emailadress you want to sent (like in outlook when you recieve two mailboxes)? Then the sent mail could be put in the public folder with a simple rule.

Try this:
Make a new account called generic (or whatever). Assign a password. Add the email address info@ to it. Issue the account name and password to the people dealing with the info@ stuff. From Thunderbird/Outlook whatever, set up an identity for that account. Replies will go into the sent box and all info@ users can see them. Hide the account from the address book if you need to.

Hope this helps

But can you connect to multiple accounts then with the Scalix conenctor? And still it doesn't work on the web access.
