Receiving external email but Scalix is not picking it up.

Postby rolandtignor » Tue Oct 10, 2006 2:49 pm

Fedora Core 4
Scalix Community 10.0.1
Everything installed fine. I'm using fetchmail to pickup my email from my pop box from from isp. I use unix mail and I can see my messages.
But when I use Outlook Express (pop3) on my laptop to check my email it never shows up.
Inside email shows up in Outlook Express when sending inside.
Please advise.
Thanks,
Roland

If I understand you correctly fetchmail is not handing the mail from your ISP off to Scalix but putting it in your UNIX mail spool.

You can achieve the former by putting something like this in your ~/.fetchmailrc or /etc/fetchmailrc:

Code: Select all

user foo with password bar is roland.tignor@company.com here

I'll try it out and I'll let you know if it works.
Thanks for the help.

ok this is what I did to get it to work
In /etc/mail
I used vi to edit the "local-host-names" file.
I put in
smtphost my.fully.qualified.hostname.com
I wrote and saved it.
Restarted the sendmail daemon in webmin
and polled the email. It mail came through from
my isp to through fetchmail to scalix and then to
my winders machine using Outlook Express.
Thanks for the help.

I have to backtrack. I only received one email from my isp and the rest are not going to scalix.
So I rebooted and i'm still not receiving email in outlook express.
Please advise.
Thanks

I suggest purchasing a support incident if you want this resolved quickly. Otherwise with this scant information I can only guess and back and forth in the forum could take quite some time before your problem is solved.

If you would like to purchase a support incident please write to support at scalix dot com.

Thanks,
Don
