Outgoing email with IMAP

Postby init3 » Mon Oct 02, 2006 2:04 pm

Hi,

We just cut our email server over to Scalix. But I am now having a problem sending email . I keep getting a 550 spam error when I send emails. I, as well as everyone in my organization, are offsite and work from home. Does this have to do with a sendmail relay config? We all work from cable modems and How can I fix this?

Regards

**EDIT**

There error i get everytime I try to send mail is:

Your message did not reach some or all of the intended recipients.

Subject: test
Sent: 10/3/2006 9:26 AM

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'user@gmail.com' on 10/3/2006 9:26 AM
550 Denied due to spam list

Any ideas?

you should setup your IMAP client to use SMTP authentication. This will implicitly allow relaying for the user.

No. :-) this will be a setting in the email client you are using - somewhere near the place where you configure your SMTP server. please consult your clients docs or online help for details.

Cheers,

Oh...okay, so there are no configurations to be done on the server side?

NVM, got it, thanks! :D

Dear Florian,

I having similar prob but with POP3 setting using MS Outlook email client. I have set send mail SMTP with athentication BUT still getting email rejected message (550 due to spam list)

If email client side is ok (already set SMTP with server athentication) then what could be the reason? Do i need to set anything in server. Is spam list blocking the non local domain emails? Appreciate your kind advice. Thanks,,,,,,,, Malik

If you have configured Outlook to do authentication and it still doesn't appear to authenticate, I'd hazard a guess that you have a Cisco PIX in between the client and the server.

Take a look at http://www.scalix.com/community/viewtopic.php?t=2651&highlight=fixup

Cheers

Dave
