Renaming Resources

Postby dotbill » Tue Aug 29, 2006 10:33 am

I have created some resources using omaddu. These are working fine, however, I would like to change their names while maintaining all of the schedules and calendar info for these meeting rooms. Is there an easy way to do this? Something like an omrenameu?

Thank you

No, no omrenameu, unfortunatedly.

You can use ommodu, though.

ommodu -o "Old User" -n "New User" should do the trick for you :)

This seemed to change the names. I still have to test to see if it maintained the schedule info. However, when I issue a lookup to the GAL - via the "To" button, these objects are not being properly sorted. IOW, they're still in the same place in the list where they were before their names changed. This is what I'm really looking for is to have all my conference rooms all together on the GAL.

As it turns out, I'm not patient enough.

from the man page:
omexeccda forces a rebuild of Client Directory Access (CDA) information for the Directory specified in the -d option imme-
diately, rather than waiting for the Client Directory Access (CDA) Server to process it.

so, the server apparently *did* process it. I didn't need to run omexeccda. I had to restart Outlook to see the change however.

Thanks

Not sure if it is still the case in the latest versions of Scalix Connect (haven't tested that part in a long time), but Outlook only used to read the SYSTEM address book on startup, so even if changes via the CDA server was done correctly you still needed to restart Outlook to see the changes.
