Help! Getting Mailloop Errors

Postby felsenstern » Wed Aug 23, 2006 12:58 pm

Heya,

when sending a Mail to a non-existing recipient on my local domain over my scalix server (community edition 10). I do not get an imidate error of the non-existing user, but scalix server is sending the mail to the sendmail smtpd. Sendmail is sending the mail to the smarthost, our internet smtp-gate, where the mail gets returned to our scalix server. The mail flops 25times for and back till finally a loop error stops the mailsend and returns with an error message.

Could someone please help me out of this please?

winks,
felsenstern

You need to edit your /etc/mail/local-host-names so that it includes all aliases for your machine. I'm guessing in your case you need to add your domain to this file e.g.:

domain.com

Searching on local-host-names will provide you with more information if you require.

Regards,
Don

Have a big thank, it worked. Must say working with Postfix all the years made me very inkompetent when handling a sendmail system... really hope my company will buy the commercial edition of scalix next year with commercial support :).

winks,
